I am excited to announce that, due to an ever expanding program, Buncombe County has created two brand new positions in its Food and Lodging Division as an Environmental Health Specialist II.
These positions require the applicant to either have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree in Environmental Health from a program accredited by the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council or graduated with a Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree and earned a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in the physical, biological, natural, life, or health sciences ; or Bachelor’s degree in public health. The position also requires 1 year of environmental health experience in Food and Lodging in North Carolina.
In addition to conducting routine inspections, visits, and critical violation visits in FLI, Pools, Tattoos, and Childcare and School Sanitation, the chosen applicants will aid in conducting plan review for chain restaurants and lodging facilities, serve as a trainer for staff obtaining authorizations, perform HACCP inspections, Quality Assurance, assist with Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention investigations and more.
